According to the proposed schedule, the stadium is set to open in four years, precisely 199 weeks and six days from today.

Why is Al-Ahly Stadium only 42,000 spectators?

The club's board of directors, led by its president, Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib, had a desire for the stadium to have a capacity of no less than 90,000 spectators.

However, this desire and the attempts that were made collided with engineering conditions that could not be implemented.

The permissible height above the ground in the stadium area is only 15 meters for aviation considerations and other reasons. In order for the club to be able to reach a capacity of at least 42,000 spectators, there will be digging in the ground for another 15 meters.

The club said that reducing the capacity is beyond the control of the board of directors due to these reasons.
