Al Ahly’s star Wessam Abou Ali is set to miss Sunday's crucial top of the table Egyptian Premier League clash against Pyramids FC after sustaining a hamstring injury during training.
According to Al Ahly TV, the injury occurred during a team training session on the eve of Al Ahly's previous match against Pharco. Abou Ali participated in a shooting drill when he felt discomfort in his hamstring. Subsequent scans conducted by the club's medical team revealed a strain in the muscle.
Al Ahly’s coaching staff decided to rest the player for the Pharco match, which ended in a 1-1 draw as Ahly were forced to play without an experienced striker due to the absence of Abou Ali as well as backup Kahraba.
Al Ahly TV confirmed that Wessam Abou Ali's chances of returning in time for the game against Pyramids are very slim.
Wessam Abou Ali joined Al Ahly in January 2024. Since then, the Palestinian striker played 43 matches, scoring 27 goals and providing 8 assists. Last season, Wessam Abou Ali was the Egyptian Premier League top scorer with 18 goals despite playing only 19 out of 34 league fixtures.
