The Board of Directors of Al-Merreikh SC has decided to terminate the contract of head coach Giovanni Solinas and his coaching staff by mutual consent following recommendations from the club's sporting director.

The decision came after 48 hours of negotiations and an internal investigation to safeguard the club’s rights. Based on the findings of the investigation and negotiation sessions, both parties reached an agreement to part ways by mutual consent.

The board has also issued a directive for suspended players to return immediately to training and appointed assistant coach Ibrahim Hussein, known as "Ibrahimoma," as the interim head coach. The Board of Directors, in its most recent meeting, issued a decision to reconsider the technical staff.

It listened to the report of the sporting director regarding the state of the football team and approved the recommendations included in the report to proceed in the direction of reconsidering the technical staff in accordance with a proper legal and administrative process. On Wednesday, the contract of the coach and the technical staff was terminated by mutual consent.

Al-Merreikh’s decision comes after their recent league loss to Garde Nationale, as the team currently participates in the Mauritanian Super D1 league this season alongside Sudanese rival club Al-Hilal due to ongoing situation in Sudan. Al-Merreikh are currently in 7th place on the Super D1 table with 18 points from 11 matches.
