Former Cameroon and Barcelona midfielder Alexandre Song has criticised the Indomitable Lions' performance following Wednesday's goalless draw against Eswatini in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying.

The match, held in South Africa, saw Cameroon fail to reach the net of their opponents, missing an opportunity to strengthen their position in Group D. Speaking to CRTV Sports, as reported by Actu Cameroun, Song did not hold back in his assessment of the team's display:

"I think that today, we were not up to the task. Nothing has practically worked."

Despite the result, the former Arsenal midfielder acknowledged a positive aspect:

"What I notice is that we have new players who have come in and who have shown things that are good. We hope that on Tuesday, they will show another more conquering face."

Cameroon will have a chance to bounce back when they host Libya on Tuesday, March 25, at 19:00 GMT. About this fixture, Song said:

"I hope we can win this match against Libya, which will not be easy at home. We are in Cameroon, and we play at home. I hope the guys will be able to show us something better."
