Algeria Ligue 1 Professionnelle defending champions and current leaders MC Alger moved five points clear at the top of the table following Sunday's 3-1 victory at Paradou AC.
The Dean are unbeaten in league matches in 2025 and did well to avoid dropping points against Paradou, who featured the league's top scorer Adil Boulbina in their eleven. A strong start for the visitors resulted in the opener arriving from Abdelkader Menezla inside ten minutes before Mohamed Halimia doubled the lead in the 37th minute with a powerful shot.
The only reason Paradou remained in the match was a dreadful error by MCA goalkeeper Toufik Moussaoui who missed his kick attempt on a ball played back to him, allowing Djaber Kaassis an easy tap-in. The match remained close until Soufiane Bayazid confirmed victory with his strike in second half stoppage time.
With closest contenders CR Belouizdad losing to ES Setif a few days earlier, now MCA have some breathing room with a five-point gap. A home match awaits on Friday against CS Constantine in their next match while Paradou have hit a rough patch. PAC have lost three of their last four matches, dropping to eighth place on the table.
