Current Algerian top flight leaders JS Kabylie earned a hard fought point at CR Belouizdad on Tuesday as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in Algiers.

CRB, with matches to make up on their domestic competition following CAF Champions League duties, missed an opportunity to make up ground on JSK in a match Le Grand Chabab should have won. The first ominous sign came in the 65th minute when CRB forward Mohamed Belkhir's penalty kick was saved by JSK goalkeeper Mohamed Hadid.

The hosts would not be denied from seizing the lead, however. Striker Aymen Mahious made no mistake when Hadid's save from a 70th minute shot fell right to him, leaving an easy finish on the rebound.

It would not end well for CRB who were forced to settle for only one point after a special moment for JSK youth academy product Oualid Malki. The 20-year-old forward reacted well to a deflected shot and collected the ball with only CRB keeper Moustapha Zeghba to beat with a low finish.

JS Kabylie remain at the top but it is a tenuous lead for the club from Tizi Ouzou. JSK have played three more matches than the likes of MC Alger, CRB and USM Alger who are within range of the current leaders. USMA and MC Alger will meet in the next Ligue 1 match for a fierce derby on Friday.
