Algeria to face European opposition in June friendly

Algeria will play a friendly match against Sweden scheduled for June 10, 2025 in Stockholm, Sweden. The match will be held at the Strawberry Arena which has a capacity of 50,000 seats.
The two teams previously met in a friendly on 19 November, 2022, with Sweden securing a 2-0 victory. During that match, Algeria’s defender Ramy Bensebaini was sent off in the 34th minute of the first half.
In their recent international break, Algeria achieved two victories. They defeated Botswana 3-1 away and triumphed over Mozambique 5-1 at home.
Algeria currently sits at the top of Group G in the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the following standings:
1. Algeria – 15 points
2. Mozambique – 12 points
3. Botswana – 9 points
4. Uganda – 9 points
5. Guinea – 7 points
6. Somalia – 1 point
There are four matches remaining in the qualifiers. The team finishing first in the group will secure a direct spot in the 2026 World Cup. Meanwhile, the best four second-place teams across all groups will advance to a playoff to determine Africa’s representative in the FIFA World Cup qualification intercontinental playoff.
