French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille has officially signed Algerian winger Amine Gouiri from Stade Rennais in a late winter transfer.
The deal is valued by reports at €19 million, with potential performance-based bonuses reaching up to €3 million. Gouiri signed a four-and-a-half-year contract and will wear the number 9 jersey for the French club.
Marseille secured Gouiri as part of their efforts to strengthen their attacking options. The 24-year-old winger moves to the club after two seasons with Rennes, where he was signed for €28 million from Nice in 2022.
Gouiri's arrival makes him Marseille’s second signing of the January transfer window, following the acquisition of Brazilian defender Luiz Felipe.
Coach Roberto De Zerbi’s reaction to Gouiri’s signing
Head coach of Marseille , Roberto De Zerbi, commented well about Gouiri. According to Get French Football News, he stated:
"He’s a strong player who could be useful, but he’s still very young. It would be a major purchase. He’s a versatile player who can play as a centre-forward, just like when he started his career. He’s a player I’ve known quite well for a long time. He can play in every attacking role, in every position."
