Al Masry SC has officially announced the departure of head coach Ali Maher. The club expressed its gratitude to the coach through a statement on its official Facebook page, thanking him for his contributions to the team.
Ali Maher took charge of Al Masry in the summer of 2023 and led the team in 67 matches during his tenure. Under his guidance, the club secured 33 victories, drew 16 times, and suffered 18 defeats. His team scored 88 goals and conceded 71.
In his first season, Maher guided Al Masry to qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup. This season, he successfully led them to the quarterfinals of the competition. Additionally, he helped the team secure a fourth-place finish in the Nile Egyptian League last season.
However, Al Masry's recent form in the league has been inconsistent. The team has won only three of its last 11 league matches and failed to secure victory in its last three games.
Despite these results, Al Masry currently sits fifth in the Nile Egyptian League standings with 24 points, just one point behind National Bank in fourth place and four points behind Zamalek in third.
Furthermore, the team has advanced to the Round of 16 in the Egypt Cup while also securing a place in the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals where they will face Tanzania's Simba SC.
