Ghana defender Alidu Seidu has described this as a “huge honour” to extend his contract Stade Rennes.

The hard tackling utility player has extended his stay with the French Ligue 1 outfit until 2029, expressing joy over the new feather in his cap. The JMG Academy product is recovering from a long-term knee injury but he has been rewarded by the club following an impressive run of form since joining them in 2024 from Clermont Foot.

Seidu Alidu said: "It's a huge honor to have extended this contract and to continue this wonderful adventure. I'm very happy, and this extension means a lot to me.

The important thing for me was to continue at Stade Rennais; that's what I wanted," he said after signing the deal. "I'm very happy here, in a great club with fantastic supporters. I want to thank everyone who contributed to my extension," he added.

The Ghana international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in November during a Ligue 1 game against Lille.

Before suffering the setback, Seidu was rewarded Stade Rennais' Player of the Month for September and October, playing 11 league games and 22 in all competitions this season. The 24-year-old made 11 Ligue 1 appearances before the injury in November.
