Alionzi’s Ethiopia Defence Force slip to second after home loss to Hadiya Hossana

Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi endured a tough outing on Monday evening as his Ethiopia Defence Force side fell 1-0 to Hadiya Hossana in an Ethiopia Premier League matchday 11 clash.


Alionzi, who featured for the entire match was beaten by a 29th-minute strike from Teshita, which proved to be the difference. The defeat saw Hadiya Hossana, in remarkable form this season climb to the top of the table with 22 points from 11 games.


Ethiopia Defence Force, who had ended 2024 at the summit now trail in second place with 21 points from the same number of matches. Alionzi and his team will look to bounce back on January 10 when they visit Suhul Shire.


Meanwhile, Hadiya Hossana will host Fasil Kenema, home to another Ugandan player, Martin Kizza, on January 11.
