Mjällby AIF continues to emerge as a club on the rise in Swedish football despite being based in the tiny town of Hällevik. Saturday's efficient 3-0 victory at BK Häcken in the top division Allsvenskan was another notable result and it was inspired by promising Gambian attacker Abdoulie Manneh.

Manneh played a role in all three goals, assisting twice and also scoring his first league goal early in the 2025 campaign. Manneh's shot at the end of the first half caused a rebound that led to the opening goal from Axel Noren and then the Gambian took over in the second half, finishing a cross in the 72nd minute before playing a perfect pass to set up Nicklas Røjkjær's goal shortly after.

Arriving before the 2024 season from Gambian top flight side Wallidan, the 20-year-old forward continues to develop well in Swedish football. In the Svenska Cupen competition that opens the season, Manneh scored three goals in five matches and Saturday's performance was his most impressive match yet for Mjällby.

Through three league matches, Mjällby are in fifth place with five points and are dreaming of bigger achievements after establishing themselves as a decent side in the Allsvenskan. Scandinavia continues to be a good location for rising Gambian talents and Manneh could be set for a season that draws the attention of clubs from more prestigious European leagues.
