SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has blamed the team’s 2-1 defeat against AmaZulu in the Betway Premiership to their own mistakes.

According to Hunt, the goals they conceded were unacceptable because they gave the ball away despite having the ball. “The two goals were mistakes from us, we had the ball, we gave the ball away, they broke and they scored from outside the box but we had the ball. We made our own chances that didn't come from their mistakes,” explained Hunt as quoted by SABC Sports.

“Two turnover balls and then the shots from outside the box, disappointing, we should have been protecting that area better but I'm saying that we should have won the game comfortably, let's be honest, so yeah, disappointing.”

Hunt further explained why SuperSport deserved to win the game. “Real dominant performance, a game we should have won comfortably. So, really disappointed, it was a good performance from us but I mean sometimes you can't control [what happens].

“I think it's very disappointing when you come out of a game, especially an away game and we created the most chances and we had more dominance in the box. There's just a pure little bit of luck sometimes and it didn't go for us, so they had a bit of it and then yeah.

“At the end of the day, they got the three points which is very frustrating but players are devastated because they understand. We played well this season without many results but we've got a lot of good young kids, another few debuts again tonight.”

The defeat left SuperSport 11th on the league table with 16 points from 15 outings.
