Long serving official Ambrose Rachier has been re-elected as Gor Mahia chairman, extending his long-standing leadership at the club.
Rachier secured 658 votes, defeating rival Dolphina Achieng, who received 456. By the end of his new term in 2029, Rachier will have served 21 years as the club chairman of the record Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League champions.
Nick Arum was voted the new secretary general after beating outgoing secretary Sam Ocholla by 81 votes. Arum garnered 582 while Ochola managed 501.
The vice-chairman post saw the return of Sally Bolo following one term in the cold, after she secured 610 votes to beat close competitor Victor Mbaka, who garnered 488.
Rachier has been the chairman of Gor Mahia since his election in 2008. He has since won all the elections that have been conducted since then.
Earlier on before the exercise, police were forced to intervene at Nyayo Stadium as the elections nearly descended into chaos. In dramatic scenes, police were forced to lob tear gas canisters to disperse the crowd as two warring factions threatened to turn the event into violence.
After some running battles that saw delegates and fans scamper for safety, calm was restored and the elections proceeded without any other hitches.
