Algerian striker Amine Gouiri spoke about his coach at Olympique Marseille, Roberto De Zerbi, and revealed that the Italian manager said Gouiri reminds him of Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuaín.
In statements to "RMC" France, as reported by Ennahar, Gouiri said that the Olympique de Marseille coach sees him as a future world-class striker.
"The coach told me that I remind him a lot of Gonzalo Higuaín. He wants me to develop and become one of the best strikers in Europe. I am very excited about this challenge and strive to improve every day," said the Algerian international.
Gouiri continued: "I started my career as a number 9, which has been my position since childhood. It is true that I have played in several different positions throughout my career, but the coach believes that I have the qualities of a number 10 even though he wants me to play as a pure striker."
The Algerian forward also explained that he has played on the wings and as a playmaker during his career, but De Zerbi believes he has the ideal attributes to be a true striker.
Regarding his role, he concluded: "Nevertheless, he does not want me to lose my playing style of moving and dropping back to receive the ball. Since I am playing in this position, it is only natural that my main goal is to score consistently."
