Angola camp in Portugal for World Cup qualifier against Libya

Leaving no stone unturned ahead of their FIFA World Cup qualifier in Libya on Thursday, Angola have detoured to Portugal for an impromptu camp training.


The delegation for Angola arrived in Lisbon on Tuesday and will fly to Benghazi for the Group D clash against the Libyans on Thursday, March 20, 2025.


The Federation of Angola Football (FAF) has confirmed that coach Pedro Gonçalves has taken his team to his homeland for final touches ahead of the World Cup game.


“The national senior men's soccer team is in Lisbon undertaking a short preparation for the game against Libya…the Black Palancas held a training session at 4:30 pm at the National Stadium of Jamor, which had an impact on technical-tactical aspects and refining of attacking strategy,” FAF’s statement reads.


The trip to Portugal has attracted players such as Neblu, Dominique, Nsesani, Fredy, Benson, Milson, Beny, Hossi, Gaspar, David Carmo, Kinito, Maestro, Zini, Mabululu, Gelson Dala, Clinton, Chico, Domingos, Pedro, Tó Carneiro, Sandro, Gilberto and Keliano.


The Palancas Negras will fly to Benghazi on a chartered plane ahead of Thursday’s match.


Angola’s next match is against fellow Lusophone nation Cape Verde on March 25. Angola are fourth in Group D but only two points behind group leaders Cameroon who take on Eswatini on Wednesday in South Africa.
