Angolan left back Pedro Bondo, who Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim once groomed, has signed for Portuguese top-flight league side Futebol Clube de Famalicão.
The 20-year-old defender has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Famalicão from former Angolan champions Petro de Luanda. The Portuguese team has confirmed the transfer.
“Pedro Bondo has an impressive record of achievements for the Angolan capital. Despite his young age, the defender has already won two championships, two cups and a Super Cup in his home country. Last season, he played for Sporting Clube de Portugal's B team,” reads Famalicão’s statement.
Bondo, who has a rich resume including winning the COSAFA Cup and helping Angola qualify for this year's African Nations Championship (CHAN) as well as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, has since vowed to deliver the goods for the Portuguese side.
“I am completing another step up in my career. All Angolan players dream of being at the top of football and I feel I am taking an important step in that direction,” he said.
Petro Atlético de Luanda have since confirmed the transfer of their prized asset who was on the books Sporting Clube de Portugal B team last season on loan.
“The Portuguese coach, Ruben Amorim, who was the Lions' coach at the time, was impressed with the left-back's qualities. In Sporting's B team, Bondo played 23 games, scored one goal and made one assist,” Luanda’s statement says. Bondo has also made 8 appearances for Angola including 4 appearances during their successful 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The youngster featured in 13 games and scored once for Petro de Luanda this campaign, accumulating 75 appearances for the reigning Girabola champions since making his professional debut during the 2020-21 campaign. The Angolan side will be entitled to a percentage if Famalicão re-sell him in the future.
