Liverpool manager Arne Slot has sung the praise of Egypt forward Mohamed Salah after he scored a double to help the Anfield outfit defeat AFC Bournemouth 2-0 and keep their top spot in the Premier League.

Salah’s first came from the penalty spot in the opening period before he scored from a stunning curling effort in the second to help the Reds secure three points on the south coast.

“Mo Salah is an incredible player but his main strength is not following the opposite full-back. But that's not the only thing. We want to keep Mo as much as we can forward as well because it is a risk for every team that plays us if the left full-back goes,” said Slot as quoted by Liverpool website.

“I think Ipswich that was a moment where the left full-back just wanted to go forward and then Mo was free in transition and it was a goal from Mo. It's clear that if you leave Trent [Alexander-Arnold] constantly with [Antoine] Semenyo and [Milos] Kerkez constantly in a two-v-one, that is not the best idea that I can come up with.”

Speaking after the game, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker praised Salah especially on his first goal. “Yeah, it’s his qualities. He knows how important he is for the team when he scores this kind of goal but we have to highlight all his hard work as well to defend today.

“It’s something that he doesn’t like to do much! But he did it for the team – not only him, everybody – and did it for this great result that we have here away from home against Bournemouth. They have a good team but we showed great desire, great mentality as well, and great quality to finish the situations we created.”

Salah has now scored 21 Premier League goals from 23 matches and provided 13 assists.
