Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has urged English Premier League club Arsenal to fast track the contract extension of Ghana midfield star Thomas Partey following outstanding performances for the club this season.

Partey, who joined the record English FA Cup holders in the summer of 2020 from La Liga side Atletico Madrid, has just two months left on his existing deal but the Gunners are yet to hand him a new contract.

The Black Stars deputy captain has courted interest from several top European clubs, including Barcelona with a potential return to Atletico being discussed.

However, Gyan, who had a stint in England with Sunderland, has called on Arsenal to offer the Ghana international a new deal after a sterling display this season.

“At the moment, Partey is one of the best midfielders in the world, there is no doubt about that. He has impressive statistics at Arsenal this season. Compare the winning percentage of Arsenal anytime he starts. He is a huge figure when it comes to Arsenal, so I will say they should give him a contract,” Gyan told Joy Sports.

Partey has made 47 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners but will miss the crucial semifinal first leg clash against PSG in the Champions League. He has played a significant role Mikel Arteta’s side that sits second on the league table on 67 points from 34 league games.

Partey was in fantastic form when Ghana recorded two consecutive wins in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, beating Chad 5-0 in Accra before recording a 3-0 victory against Madagascar at the Al Hoceima Stadium in Morocco.
