Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have been dealt a huge blow following the injury to two of their key players, Emmanuel Kotei and Albert Amoah with just a game to end the first round of the 2024/25 season.

Albert Amoah, who is the Porcupine Warriors’ top scorer this season with seven league goals, has been ruled out for two months after sustaining an ankle injury during Kotoko’s 1-1 draw with Medeama SC in Tarkwa.

The injury rules the Black Galaxies striker out the last game of the first round against vision fc after he missed the FA Cup round 32 clash against Accelerat8z fc at the Baba Yara Stadium where it ended 2-0 in Kotoko’s favour.

Emmanuel Kotei on the other hand suffered a severe anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during training last Thursday. Medical examinations have confirmed that, the defender will miss the remainder of the season.

The situation has left Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Ogum frustrated. “It’s unpleasant news losing him and Kotei at this busy stage of the season. I initially had chills when it happened during the game because Albert is naturally a strong boy, but the shout he made during the impact left me worried. Injuries are part of the game, and we can just hope he recovers quickly, as he has shown with his previous injury.”

The record Ghana Premier League holders currently sit 6th on the league table with 28 points, same as sworn rivals Hearts of Oak after 16 league matches played in the first round.
