South African attacker Percy Tau was restored to the starting line for Qatar SC as they beat Al Shamal 2-1 in a league contest on Thursday afternoon. Atta Jaber, with an assist from on loan Al Ahly forward Ahmed Abdelkader, scored on the stroke of half-time.

Abdelkader, who is enjoying an excellent loan spell with the club, confirmed victory for Qatar SC with a penalty kick deep into stoppage time. The 25-year-old Egyptian attacker now has 6 goals and 1 assist in 13 matches.

Visitors Shamal had played for some 52 minutes with 10 men after goalkeeper Babacar Seck was red-carded in the 38th minute, thereby giving hosts Qatar SC the numerical advantage.

Before Abdelkader's winner close to full time, Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah had previously equalized the match with a penalty kick of his own for Shamal in the 82nd minute. Bounedjah is the top scorer in the Qatar Stars League with 14 goals, also contributing an impressive 7 assists for the striker.

The result saw Tau's club jump three steps up into eighth place in the standings, three points behind the fifth-placed Al Shamal.

Tau was nowhere in sight for Qatar SC’s playing squad as they beat hosts Al Sadd 1-0 last Thursday evening in a league match. The new signing from Al Ahly had debuted for Qatar two weeks ago in the 5-1 loss to Al-Nasr in the Qatari-Emirati Super Cup final.
