South Africa women's national team coach Desiree Ellis has named a young squad of 22 players to assemble for a training camp during the upcoming FIFA women's international break later this month.

The squad largely consists of players that finished second in last year's COSAFA Women's Championship. The team is scheduled to gather for camp between 17-26 February as Ellis aims to build the depth in her squad ahead of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in July in Morocco this year.

Banyana Banyana will take on Lesotho in two friendlies during the 10-day period to assess emerging stars and equally expose them to the senior women's national team experience.

None of the regular senior women's players have been called up while foreign based players will stay with their clubs.

Meanwhile, Ellis has also invited eight goalkeepers for a specialised camp from 15-17 February, when the list will be trimmed down to four before they finally join the rest of the 22 players for the camping exercise.
