Kaizer Chiefs' assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef is confident that his team will emerge victorious in the upcoming Soweto derby against rivals Orlando Pirates.
Amakhosi comfortably navigated their path into the last 16 of the 2025 Nedbank Cup with an emphatic 4-0 first round victory over ABC Motsepe League opponents, Free Agents FC at the FNB Stadium on Sunday.
A first half brace from Pule Mmodi set the tone for a dominant display, which was embellished with further goals from Inacio Miguel and Ranga Chivaviro in the second period, during which Agents were reduced to 10 men after Saheed Adebayo was sent off for dissent.
Speaking after the game, Ben Youssef, who was sitting in for suspended coach Nasreddine Nabi, was asked about the Soweto derby in the Betway Premiership. Youssef believes that the derby is evenly poised, but remained adamant that Chiefs will win.
“The derby is 50 percent, 50 percent for both teams. We have our idea, they have their idea, we will see next week. We'll win, we'll see,” Youssef told SuperSport TV.
On the team’s qualification to last 16 of the domestic competition, Ben Youssef said: “Proud of the team's hard work, mental resilience, and trust in game plan, Now, all eyes on the derby let's keep building, let's keep winning.”
