Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak have announced the contract extension of Ghana national team number one goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.

The contract extension will keep the 32-year-old at the 2000 CAF Champions League winners until 2027. Asare joined the Phobians from Accra rivals Great Olympics after their relegation from the Premier League last season.

A statement on Hearts of Oak’s social media pages announced the contract extension of Benjamin Asare.

“The Board and Management of Accra Hearts of Oak are happy to announce that Black stars goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare has extended his contract with Ghana's biggest Club. Till 2027.” The statement read.

Asare recently earned his first senior national team call up for the two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar last month.

He rose to the occasion in his debut by keeping two clean sheets where Ghana pummeled Chad by 5-0 in Accra and a further 3-0 victory over Madagascar at the Al Hoceima Stadium in Morocco in matchdays five and six.

The heroics by Asare helped the four-time African champions jump into the top of Group I with 15 points from six qualifying matches.

Asare has kept 13 clean sheets from 20 Ghana Premier League appearances with 8 goals conceded this season.
