Ghana giants Hearts of Oak will look to put some smiles back on the faces of their supporters when the Premier League resumes this weekend.
The domestic top tier returns this weekend across venues after the burial of late Kotoko fan, Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong who was stabbed to death in Kotoko’s week 19 game at Nsoatreman.
The Phobians have blown hot and cold in the top flight but have managed to collect 33 points, same as Heart of Lions and seated 4th on the log after 19 games. Goalkeeper of the record FA Cup holders, Benjamin Asare has called for calm among the supporters ahead of this Saturday’s home game against new boys, Young Apostles.
His call for calm comes following the team’s shocking elimination from the FA Cup round 16 by Division One League club, Golden Kicks. “The little I have to tell the supporters is, the love they show to us during games, the whole they voice out their frustrations is very commendable,” Asare told Hearts TV.
“I I’ll urge them to be patient with the team if they have issues with us because football is full of mistakes. You don’t always get the results you expect but they way they express their grievance because they want good results is good but they must be patient.
“So that we can resume the league this Saturday on a good note. We have to take our games seriously so that in the end on Saturday, we can achieve the needed results. “Whatever we need to do to get the needed results we must make sure we do them to bring joy to all,” Asare added.
Hearts of Oak must win at all costs against Young Apostles in the week 23 game at the 6:00pm to keep their title dreams alive as they trail leading duo of Gold Stars and Kotoko by just a point on the table.
