Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch were all business on Tuesday in South Africa's Betway Premiership, doing enough to earn narrow victories against less pedigreed opposition.
Chiefs were dominant against Magesi FC in a 1-0 victory at the FNB Stadium but AmaKhosi supporters were kept in suspense by the club's ongoing finishing issues. After a slow and scoreless first half, Nasreddine Nabi's side picked up the pace in the second half and substitute Ashley Du Preez applied a finish from a clever cross by Congolese attacker Makabi Lilepo.
Lilepo, acquired from French club football during the recent transfer window, continues to add a touch of quality and class to a Chiefs attack infamous for their inconsistency. AmaKhosi remain in eighth place but move within reach of the top three with Tuesday's result.
In the other match played simultaneously on Tuesday, Stellenbosch moved level with Sekhukhune United in third place with a 1-0 victory at Marumo Gallants. Talismanic winger Devon Titus continued his strong form with his 9th goal in all competitions arriving early in the second half. Stellies have now gone six matches unbeaten and Titus has three goals and an assist during this stretch.
Tomorrow, ten teams will be in action including leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who travel to face Golden Arrows. Orlando Pirates will also be on the road when they clash with Chippa United.
