Kaizer Chiefs management has promised support for head coach Nasreddine Nabi despite a poor run of results by the South Africans giants in the Betway Premiership.

Amakhosi have been blowing hot and cold this season, since the arrival of the Tunisian and former Young Africans (Yanga SC) coach, and they are currently sitting eighth on the 16-team league table with 29 points, a whopping 29 fewer than table leaders and champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Chiefs’ last outing before the FIFA international break saw them suffer a 2-0 defeat against Richards Bay, and the outcome marked their ninth defeat of the current campaign. They have only managed eight wins from 22 matches and drawn five.

According to the club’s marketing director Jessica Motaung, they are looking at long time project and that Nabi has the blessing of the management to continue building a strong outfit that can compete in all fronts.

“I think all I can say is we have a technical team, we have a coach, they’re doing the work, and they have the support to do the work,” Motaung told FARPost. “We obviously know that this is a long game. We didn’t get into this thinking we’d have quick results.

“But certainly, I think the lessons are there. The analysis is there. The football team is working well with the coaches to ensure that things that must be addressed are addressed.”

On her message to the Amakhosi followers, Motaung said: “And my encouragement to the supporters is to support the team and ensure we make it to the finish line for the season. But there is a lot of learning and a need for more consistency.

“And there’s work behind the scenes to ensure that is done.”

On return from the break, Chiefs will face Golden Arrows at Mpumulanga Stadium.
