It was a case of another inspired performance followed by a a disappointing result for Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday. After dumping South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns out of the Nedbank Cup last weekend, AmaKhosi returned to Betway Premiership action by sputtering to a scoreless draw with fellow midtable side Chippa United.

Finishing issues returned for Chiefs, who made some inroads against the Chippa United defense but failed to trouble Chilli Boys and Nigeria national team goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali. Chippa were mostly reduced to long range efforts including a powerful 64th minute effort from Giovanni Philander that Chiefs keeper Bruce Bvuma fought off.

Elsewhere, Sekhukhune United continued a tug-of-war with Stellenbosch FC for third place on the table, moving back ahead with a 2-0 home victory over Polokwane City. The hosts were opportunistic and defended well with center back Daniel Cardoso's second half goal confirming three valuable points against Polokwane, who have only won once in their last ten league matches.

In the early match, Marumo Gallants and Golden Arrows shared the points in a 1-1 draw. It was a missed opportunity for Gallants to gain a victory after the hosts failed to convert a penalty kick and then saw Junior Dion's first half goal canceled out by a penalty kick from Arrows forward Nduduzo Sibiya.

Magesi FC hosts TS Galaxy early on Sunday to finish up weekend action from South Africa's top flight.
