After a big clash on Saturday at the top of the table between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, South Africa's Betway Premiership concluded Round 17 on Sunday with a 1-1 draw between hosts Sekhukhune United and SuperSport United.

SuperSport will have plenty of regrets despite finding a late equalizer to share the points in Polokwane. After wasteful shooting from both sides in the first half, Sekhukhune snatched the lead early in the second half when a perfect free kick service from out wide by Keletso Makgalwa found Relebogile Mokhuoane in stride for a powerful headed goal.

The visitors responded well to falling behind and a hand ball from Sekhukhune in their penalty area created a spot kick opportunity for Zambian attacker Ghampani Lungu. However, experienced Ivorian keeper Badra Ali Sangare read Lungu well and pushed the penalty kick wide. In the 81st minute, SuperSport keeper Ricardo Goss produced a crucial save to deny Sekhukhune substitute striker Chibuike Ohizu.

Sekhukhune's wastefulness came back to harm them in stoppage time when they failed to successfully clear a 90th minute corner kick. Terence Dvukamanja's cross was chested into the air by Siviwe Magidigidi for Samir Nurkovic to volley past Sangare and save a point for the visitors.

On Saturday, a couple of teams involved in the relegation battle earned important victories. Magesi FC finally got a victory, their first since upsetting Mamelodi Sundowns to win the Carling Knockout Cup in late November, by defeating Cape Town City 2-0. Lehlohonolo Mtshali confirmed victory in the second half after a first half penalty kick from Mcedi Vandala.

Richards Bay have now won two consecutive matches after a 2-0 triumph over third placed side Polokwane City. Both goals in the second half arrived from set pieces for the Natal Rich Boyz with Tlakusani Mthethwa heading in the opener before 19-year-old forward Ntlonelo Bomelo volleyed in from a Keegan Allen header in the 69th minute.
