Ashley Cupido's equalizer in second half stoppage time spared some of Stellenbosch FC's blushes as the Western Cape club shared the points with visitors Polokwane City in Friday's 1-1 Betway Premiership draw.
The in form Cupido was in the right place to score his fourth goal in as many matches for Stellies, who will be disappointed with the result as they attempt to claim a top three position in South Africa's top flight. Earlier in the second half, Bonginkosi Dlamini put Polokwane into the lead against the run of play.
Despite failing to finish off a victory, the result is a positive one for visitors Polokwane who have been on a freefall in February since edging Chippa United at the beginning of the month. The Limpopo Province side have now failed to win in six matches across all competitions including a 0-2 Nedbank Cup defeat to Stellenbosch on two weeks ago.
Polokwane remain in 4th place on the table, three points ahead of Stellenbosch who still have two games to make up and could soon ascend to third place. Action from the league continues on Saturday with a highly anticipated clash between leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs in Pretoria.
