Betway Premiership: Stellenbosch thrash AmaZulu in Durban

After suffering a 5-0 defeat to Morocco's RS Berkane to conclude the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, Western Cape side Stellenbosch FC returned to domestic play on Thursday by reversing the score in a 5-0 thumping of AmaZulu.


Khomotjo Lekoloane put Stellies ahead towards the end of the first half and after the break it all fell apart for hosts AmaZulu in Durban. Stellenbosch star Devin Titus doubled the lead close to the hour mark, Chumani Butsaka added another soon after and Titus completed his brace soon after with all three goals arriving in a ten-minute window.


Nigerian midfielder Ibraheem Jabaar completed the scoring for the Confederation Cup quarterfinalists who move up to 7th on the Betway Premiership table. Both clubs will next participate in their first Nedbank Cup fixtures with AmaZulu facing lower divisoin side Mighty Eagles while Stellenbosch face second tier side Kruger United.
