TS Galaxy continued to display their potential as one of South Africa's rising clubs on Friday in an opportunistic 2-1 victory at AmaZulu in Durban.
Ruthless finishing made the difference in an even match. A strong first half was enough for the Rockets, who threatened early through the brilliance of playmaker Keagan Dolly. The former Kaizer Chiefs player set up an excellent opportunity in the opening fifteen minutes before attempting a crashing drive from long range, both of which required the intervention of Usurtu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa.
However, Mothwa could not save AmaZulu from falling behind by halftime. Careless passing in the back from the hosts led to the opening goal on the half hour mark from Dženan Zajmović who took over from a loose touch Kamogelo Sebelebele to finish. Sebelebele's first touch was much better eight minutes later when he chested down a Marks Munyai cross before shooting low past Mothwa.
mo Kambindu pulled one back for the hosts before halftime but AmaZulu could not find a way past keeper Ira Tape and a more defensive Galaxy approach in the second half. Moving into third place with the result, Galaxy have now won three of their last four matches and are firm contenders for a place in CAF club competition next season.
AmaZulu remain in 7th position and are likely to drop down the table after the weekend. Three matches will take place on Saturday before Sunday features a highly anticipated title clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, who must win away from home to maintain any hopes of catching the perennial South African champions.
