AmaZulu FC coach Arthur Zwane has challenged his players to deliver the goods in their remaining Betway Premiership games, starting with Tuesday’s meeting against Stellenbosch FC.
The Kaizer Chiefs legend said this ahead of the game against Stellenbosch FC at Danie Craven Stadium. Kick-off is at 19:30 CAT. Zwane said his team could sneak into the top-four band on the log table if they maintain their winning momentum.
“The ball is in our hands. It’s all up to us if we want to go and play in the [CAF] Confederation Cup,” he told AmaZulu FC media.
“It is how we are going to execute ourselves in the next coming games. We need to win all the games and when I look at the squad we have assembled, the character we’ve shown this season is good.”
Zwane’s side lie seventh on the log table with just four points separating them from fourth-placed TS Galaxy. AmaZulu are chasing a second successive Premiership win after beating Richards Bay 1-0 on April 4.
Taariq Fielies scored for Usuthu to snap a four-game winless run and put themselves back in top-eight contention. On the other side, Steve Barker’s men can leapfrog Sekhukhune United from third place with a win on Tuesday.
Eventually, Stellenbosch will switch attention to the CAF Confederation Cup first leg semifinal meeting with Simba SC this weekend. Barker’s men saw off Confederation Cup holders Zamalek SC in the quarterfinal second leg match in Cairo last week to progress into the last-four phase.
AmaZulu have dominated games against Stellenbosch in the last 10 league meetings, winning four times compared to three for the Western Cape-based outfit. The other three matches ended in draws.
