Mozambican champions Associação Black Bulls FC have declared themselves ready for "a very difficult" CAF Confederation Cup Group D battle against Enyimba in Nigeria on Sunday.
Ahead of the game at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Black Bulls media officer Nuno Souza said they have had limited preparations due to the post-election crisis in Mozambique.
“It will be challenging for several reasons: the opponent has undergone a coaching change, which gives them added motivation to showcase their strengths. Additionally, our preparation was limited with only a few training sessions under complicated conditions in our country,” Souza told Pan-Africa Football.
However, he said they hope to build on their two-game unbeaten run in the group that also comprises Egyptian clubs Zamalek and Al Masry.
“We are confident but fully aware that it will be a very difficult game. However, this will not deter our focus. So far, our performance has been strong, and we are demonstrating good football, solid organization, and a desire to earn points,” Souza added.
After facing Enyimba, the Mozambicans host Zamalek SC six days later in Egypt.
Coach Helder Duarte's men initially wanted to host Zamalek in Nigeria after the Enyimba game or in South Africa, but they will do so in Cairo instead.
Black Bulls are enjoying a dream debut in the group phase of the continental cup. They overcame a 2-0 loss to leaders Zamalek before holding Al Masry to a one-all draw and beating Enyimba 3-0 to go second.
Interim coach Stanley Eguma is now in charge of Enyimba who sacked coach Yemi Olarenwaju last week.
