Uganda Cranes midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga has secured a move to Oakland Roots SC, a second-division club competing in the USL Championship in the United States.

Byaruhanga, who recently returned to the USA following the conclusion of his loan spell with Austin FC II, has now found a new home at Oakland Roots. The 23-year-old midfielder was a key player in Austin FC II’s 2023 MLS NEXT Pro title-winning squad, featuring in 26 matches across all competitions, scoring once, and registering three assists.

During his time with Austin FC II, Byaruhanga also became the first player from the team to receive a senior international call-up. His initial move to the USA came through a loan deal from Czech Republic side MFK Vyškov in January 2023, which ended at the close of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season.

A former FUFA Male Player of the Year (2021), Byaruhanga rose to prominence at Vipers SC, where he won multiple domestic titles before securing a move to Europe. With over 20 caps for the Uganda Cranes, he remains a crucial figure for the national team.
