The German Bundesliga returned following the international break with a Week 27 game on Friday as Bayer Leverkusen beat Bochum 3-1 at the BayArena. Nigerian forward Victor Boniface and Moroccan attacker Amine Adli scored in the second half to hand the reigning champions maximum points at home.
Aleix Garcia’s early strike was cancelled out by Bochum's Felix Passlack in the first interval. The relegation battlers were resilient at the back until Boniface struck at the hour mark. The big Nigerian scored with a tap in after an assist by Piero Hincapie.
Second half substitute Amine Adli finished off the job three minutes before time with a calm finish to bag his second goal of the season. Boniface has eight league goals.
Xabi Alonso’s charges sit second with 59 points as a potential title defense is still alive. Bayern Munich tops the standing with 62 points. The Werkself are now shifting their focus to the DFB Pokal semifinal where they clash against third division side Arminia Bielefeld as both Boniface and Adli hope to add more silverware to their collection.
