Tanzanian Mainland Premier League champions Young Africans (Yanga SC) have been boosted with the return of midfielder Clatous Chama ahead of their do-or-die Caf Champions League fixture against Al Hilal on Sunday.
The Timu ya Mwananchi must win the clash to stand a chance of qualifying to the next stage of the lucrative competition. Yanga are currently lying third in Group A with four points from four matches, while Al Hilal have already qualified as they have garnered 10 points from the same number of matches.
Ahead of the fixture at Cheikha Ouldi Boidiya Stadium in Nouakchott, Mauritania, Yanga Media Officer Ali Kamwe further confirmed the absence of three key players - Maxi Nzengeli, Kouassi Attohoula Yao and Aziz Andambwile.
“All our players are doing well and Clatous Chama has returned to full training. However, we will miss Maxi Nzengeli, Kouassi Attohoula Yao and Aziz Andambwile, who have recovered but are not yet fully fit for the game,” Kamwe explained as quoted by Daily News.
On the importance of the fixture, Kamwe said: “This match is about more than football and it doesn’t require many words. This is a fight and our plans are different from any other match. We are heading into a battlefield and battle plans are never shared.”
After playing against Al Hilal, Yanga will wind up their group fixtures against MC Alger at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, January 18.
