League leaders RS Berkane were in action on Thursday in Morocco's Botola Pro but most of the fireworks came in the headline clash between hosts AS FAR and Wydad AC. In a match that saw eight yellow cards given as well as the dismissal of Wydad defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil, AS FAR came back to draw 2-2.
An electric start to the match saw AS FAR captain Mohamed Hrimat head in the opening goal inside five minutes but the Wydad response was devastating. Cassius Mailula set up Oussama Zemraoui for the leveler in the 14th minute and Mohamed Rayhi finished off a precision counter attack less than four minutes later to turn the match around for the visitors.
The Royal Army club was able to claim a point when forward Youssef El Fahli took advantage of a moment of madness from Wydad goalkeeper Youssef El Motie to tap into an empty net. There was no shortage of drama in the match with AS FAR collecting five yellow cards in the second half while former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Boutouil was dismissed with a red card in the 74th minute.
For leaders RS Berkane, it was back to winning ways with a 3-0 result over COD Meknès at home. Youssef Mehri scored just before halftime for RSB who confirmed three points with late goals by substitutes Mohamed El Morabit and Oussam Lamlioui, moving the Orange Boys six points clear with one less match played than their closest rivals.
In the final match of the day, Raja CA performed excellently in the second half to come back from a goal behind and defeat visitors Union Touarga 2-1. Ricardo Sá Pinto's team is finding its form in domestic league play and most importantly they are finding goals with Younes Najari and Adam Ennafati both scoring again on Thursday evening.
