Accustomed to grinding out close victories during their dominant run in Morocco's top division Botola Pro, RS Berkane had it much easier on Friday.
The Orange Boys rolled to a 4-0 victory away from home at Chabab Salmi, moving the Botola Pro leaders and CAF Confederation Cup contenders sixteen points clear at the top of the table. A poor start from the hosts gifted a goal to Oussama Lamlioui when goalkeeper Mohamed Chennouf's pass went right to the forward who was left with an easy finish.
Chabab Salmi looked quite capable throughout the match, displaying the ability to control possession for stretches. However, Berkane showed their ability to strike with precision at important moments and put themselves beyond reach with two goals in two minutes early in the second half. Ayoub Khairi doubled the lead in the 49th minute and Imad Riahi added another soon after.
The match was all but over from that point on but there was still time for a regular sight with RSB this season. Burkina Faso national team defender Issoufou Dayo scored his tenth goal of the season in all competitions late on, rising above everybody for a towering header from a corner kick.
Next Friday, Berkane face the closest challengers to their dominance when Wydad Casablanca come to the Berkane Municipal Stadium for what should be a fierce battle.
