Botola Pro leaders RS Berkane are winning even when they are not playing! Morocco's top club this season were able to watch and relax after achieving a dominant victory on Friday and the results this weekend were very pleasing for the Orange Boys.
Closest competitors Wydad AC could only manage a 0-0 draw against scrappy top division newcomers COD Meknes. Thembinkosi Lorch's first start for WAC since arriving on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns was a bust as he went off after an hour as the Wydad attack sputtered. A five-match winning streak for Rulani Mokwena's men comes to an end and now second placed Wydad are fifteen points from the top.
But RS Berkane are also enjoying a downturn in form for Royal Army club AS FAR. The CAF Champions League quarterfinalists are inconsistent these days and Sunday saw them play Raja Casablanca to a 0-0 draw. Neither team looked particularly threatening and it is not an ideal start for new AS FAR coach Alexandre Santos, who lost his debut match last week to Fath Union Sport in the Rabat Derby.
The club that benefited the most from AS FAR and Wydad's struggles was Renaissance Zemamra who refuse to let preseason expectations come to fruition. A surprise member of the top-5, a 2-0 victory over IR Tanger moved RCAZ back level with Wydad on 40 points to keep them in firm contention to qualify for a spot in CAF club competition next season.
