Botswana’s Township Rollers FC have transfer-listed five players in a move expected to create room for new signings to step up the team’s bid for the FNB Premiership title.
The team has confirmed that it “has agreed to place the players on the transfer list. We thank them for their service to the club and wish them well in their future endeavours.”
The players on their way out from the club that is also called Popa are 30-year-old defender Tapiwa Sepatela, 33-year-old South African defender Tshepo Matete, winger Obonwe Maome, goalkeeper Bophelo Kealeboga and striker Ntwambe Wafuana Djo.
The clear-out follows Rollers’ recently appointed Belgium-based coach Abdelaziz Karkache’s squad assessment. The UEFA Pro-Licence holder replaced Mogotsi Mpote at the record Botswana league 16-time title winners.
The Belgian has since made speedy winger Thatayaone Ramatlapeng as his new signing from Jwaneng Galaxy on a two-and-half-year deal.
Popa are in second place in the log table, three points behind leaders Tafic going into Sunday’s encounter against Security Systems FC.
