Former Botswana Premier League champions Township Rollers have hired Belgium-based Abdelaziz Karkache as the new head coach replacing Mogotsi Mpote who was fired a fortnight ago.
The Gaborone-based team released a statement on Wednesday confirming the recruitment of the Morocco-born coach.
“Township Rollers is pleased to reveal that the club has appointed Abdelaziz Karkache as the new head coach. Born in Morocco, and also a resident of Belgium, he holds UEFA Pro, UEFA Advanced Level and CAF A coaching licenses as well as 20-year experience in coaching football at a professional level,” the statement reads.
The 59-year-old has spent most of his time coaching in Morocco’s Botola League and he was last in charge of Olympique Club de Khouribga in August 2024.
Karkache replaces Mpote who lost his job while Rollers were four points behind leaders Tafic FC in the Premiership race. The Gaborone giants face Morupule Wanderers on Wednesday.
Rollers are the record 16-time winners of the Botswana league whose holders are Jwaneng Galaxy FC.
