Brentford FC coach Thomas Frank hailed Congolese star Yoane Wissa and his Cameroonian counterpart Bryan Mbeumo following their glowing performance in the 4-0 rout of Leicester City on Friday.
Wissa opened the scoring while Mbeumo, the club’s leading scorer with 14 goals, contributed a goal and an assist during the Premier League game. In a post-match reaction, Frank singled out the African duo alongside Kevin Schade and Mikkel Damsgaard for playing a leading role in the victory.
“It was a very, very good win, of course," Frank told Brentford media. "It's difficult to win in the Premier League, difficult to win away from home, and the way we did it 4-0 is very impressive.
“We did what we didn't manage to do last weekend against West Ham in the first half, which was more or less killing the game off. It was very impressive, the way we went forward, we looked so dangerous with our front four; the runners of Kevin [Schade] and Bryan [Mbeumo], but also [Yoane] Wissa and the creator in Mikkel Damsgaard behind.”
Brentford moved to 10th place in the English Premier League table following the fourth consecutive win.
Leicester, who featured Nigerian midfielder Wilfried Ndidi, Ghanaian Jordan Ayew in the starting XI, with Zambian Patson Daka on the bench, remain second from last place.
