Brentford FC manager Thomas Frank has praised Congolese striker Yoane Wissa as exceptional after his goal earned his side a point against Arsenal in a Premier League match on Saturday.
It was a show for Africans as Ghanaian Thomas Partey gave the Gunners the lead after a blistering counterpart, only for Wissa to strike back on the turn with his back to the goal for the two teams to share the spoils.
After the match, Frank singled out Wissa for praise, saying there were a few number 9s of his calibre in the Premier League.
“He has been very good,” Frank told BBC. “How many teams have their number nine that has scored 15 goals? May be Alexander Isak and Erling Halaand? That is exceptional for him. A big credit. He has been very good and having Wissa and Bryan on 15 goals and more I think we are the only club with that,” he said.
The Congolese forward took his league tally to 15 goals, just one shy of his strike partner Bryan Mbeumo who is Brentford’s leading scorer this campaign so far.
It was a brave performance for Brentford meeting opponents who had just dismantled Real Madrid 3-0 a few days earlier in the UEFA Champions League.
