Nigeria international left back Bruno Onyemaechi has made his first comments after joining Olympiacos, stating he is ready to hit the ground running at the Greek record domestic title holders.
The defender officially joined Olympiacos in a €2.5 million transfer deal from Portuguese club Boavista.
The 25-year-old left-back signed a four-year contract with the Red and Whites to become the club’s third signing of the summer. Onyemaechi expressed his excitement and his ambition in a video shared by the club:
“First of all, I’m really happy to be here. When I first told my family about it, they all accepted it. Now I’m looking forward to it and hope to see the supporters in the stadium.”
“I looked at the possibilities of playing in Europe; this is what drove me more to be here, and I’m really happy to be here.
“I’m a fast player. When the team has the ball, I am ready to help the team in attack and defence."
“It’s something that every player dreams of—to be able to play in this kind of atmosphere. So, I’m really happy to feel it and see how the supporters will react," Onyemaechi added.
The native of Owerri made 77 appearances for Boavista over three seasons, scoring five goals and delivering three assists and he will look to replicate such an enviable feat at the Greek club. Olympiacos tops the Greek Super League table and sit 12th in the UEFA Europa League ongoing league phase.
