The Tunisian Football Federation has officially confirmed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved Tunisia’s participation in the upcoming U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Tunisia was granted a spot in the tournament, replacing Côte d'Ivoire who were originally set to host the competition but later apologized and withdrew from hosting the competition.
In its request to CAF, the Tunisian Federation argued that since Egypt—another North African nation—will now host the tournament, the North African region is entitled to have three representatives.
Tunisia finished third in the UNAF (North African) qualifying tournament for the U-20 AFCON. CAF accepted the request, making Tunisia’s participation in the tournament official.
The U-20 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Egypt from April 27 to May 18. The tournament draw is scheduled for Sunday, April 13 at 15:00 GMT (17:00 Cairo time) in Egypt.
