Orlando Pirates have highlighted the threat Al Ahly could pose to the Soweto giants when they clash in Sunday’s CAF Champions League group stage match in South Africa.

The Buccaneers have released a detailed analysis of the strength of the defending champions and the record holders ahead of the match.

“Al Ahly’s primary strength lies in their ability to read the game and focus on securing the result. Ordinarily, the Red Devils prefer a dominant possession-focused style of play,” the analysis reads.

Pirates cited Ashour, Mohamed Magdy and Marwan Attia as the key players to watch for Marcel Koller’s men. The MTN8 champions had a dream start to the group stage campaign after chalking an away 2-1 win over CR Belouizdad whereas the Club of the Century saw off Stade d’Abidjan 4-2 last week.

Pirates go into the match while smarting from a 1-0 home loss to Stellenbosch, the first in the Betway Premiership this season for Jose Riveiro’s men. The two teams have met six times with Pirates winning thrice, two draws and Al Ahly winning once.
