Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids has called on the club faithful to come out in large numbers and support the team during their final Group A fixture of the Caf Confederation Cup on Sunday, January 19.
Despite sealing their ticket to the knock out stages of the competition following their 1-1 draw against Bravos do Maquis, the South African coach has turned his focus to make sure that the Wekundu wa Mismbazi finish as the group winners.
To achieve the target, Davids has rallied on the fans to make sure they fill the 60, 000 sitter Benjamin Mkapa Stadium during the final game against the Algerian outfit to give them the push.
“First of all, well done to the players and supporters of Simba,” Davids reflected following their qualification as quoted by Daily News. “But I have one request to the Simba fans – we have 60,000 tickets available, and I urge everyone to come for that last match against Constantine.
“They know we need to win, but without their support, we cannot. Let’s fill up Benjamin Mkapa; let’s make it a huge spectacle to ensure we qualify at the top of the group.”
Simba are currently sitting second in Group A with 10 points, two less leaders Constantine. A win will therefore, guarantee Simba the top spot.
Meanwhile, Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan has congratulated both Simba and Yanga for their good shows in their respective Caf competitions. On Simba, Hassan said: “Congratulations to Simba for advancing to the quarterfinals of the Confederation Cup! Keep up the great work in entertaining our nation and representing our flag on the international stage.”
For Yanga, the Head of State wrote: “Congratulations to Yanga for winning the Caf Champions League match! Your triumph brings immense pride to all Tanzanians as you continue to elevate our nation’s name on the international stage.”
