The Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 draw is set for January 15 at Nairobi's KICC, confirming Kenya as co-host alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
A statement from the African body confirmed the draw: “The official draw for next month’s Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) is set for January 15 at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.”
The tournament, running from 1-28 February, serves as a warm-up for hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament by the three East African nations.
Hosts Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, defending champions Senegal, and likely Morocco will be in Pot 1, with Guinea, Zambia, Madagascar, and Sudan in Pot 2, and eight other teams in Pot 3.
Kenya will use Nyayo and Kasarani Stadiums, racing to complete renovations.
Kenya’s Harambee Stars are currently in Zanzibar participating in the invitational Mapinduzi Cup as part of their preparations for the tournament. Kenya played their first group match against Burkina Faso on Saturday drawing 1-1.
They will next face Tanzania on Tuesday before winding up their fixtures against Zanzibar.
