CAF Women's Champions League winner Kanjinga secures dream move abroad

TP Mazembe women's team captured the headlines this year by winning the 2024 CAF Women's Champions League and now one of its stars is off to European club football after Merveille Kanjinga's transfer to Paris Saint-Germain was confirmed on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old forward joins PSG Féminines after a series of excellent performances at the Champions League finals hosted in Morocco, where Mazembe stunned host club AS FAR with a 1-0 victory in the final. Kanjinga collected three goals and one assist from five matches at the tournament and previously scored the club's first-ever goal at the competition on their debut at the 2022 edition.

Kanjinga joins a PSG team that is currently in second place in France's top division Première Ligue, five points behind current leaders Lyon who have won the previous three league titles. She was well known by PSG before starring at the Champions League, having attended a week-long trial at the club in September before the Champions League finals in November.
